Our mother daughter swimming routine started as a simple backup plan. Bad weather cancelled our morning walk, and I still wanted an activity Felisberta and I could enjoy together without depending on the rain. We both love the water, we love moving our bodies, and swimming felt like the right choice.
So we packed our swim bags and went for our first pool test.
Why We Started Swimming Together
Our weekend walks have been on pause because the weather has been unpredictable. Since both of us enjoy swimming, signing up for pool access felt like a natural solution. It was supposed to be a mother daughter moment, something just for us, something calm and simple to look forward to every week.

Waiting for Our Pool Test
When we arrived, we still had time before the test. There is a small café inside the sports building, so I grabbed a coffee while Felisberta stayed glued to the glass wall. She could see the pool from where we were, and she refused to sit down. The excitement was too much. She just wanted to get in the water.
She kept watching every movement inside the pool area, almost counting the minutes until she could join.

The Test – Two Pools, Two Experiences
When the time finally came, we got dressed, put on our swimsuits, robes, flip-flops and caps, and went straight to the instructors.
And here is the truth: even with all my Les Mills training, kettlebells, Body Balance and runs, I felt it. Water challenges every muscle. It asks for control, breath and full-body strength. I loved it, but I was also reminded of how long it has been since I swam with intention. Probably since 2008.
It felt good to be back.

What Happened Next – A Change of Plans
Here’s where the story changed.
Felisberta loved the experience. She loved the teacher, loved the energy, loved being with the other kids. The joy on her face said everything. So after the test, I asked for information and decided to sign her up for the class.
We are now waiting for a spot to open in the group.
Which means my mother daughter swimming routine may not happen as planned. She wants to be with the kids, and honestly, that’s a good thing. It is good for her development, confidence and social life.
Our plan changed, but for the right reasons.

How I Felt After the Test
I left the pool tired in the best way. My legs were shaking a little, my lungs were open and my whole body felt awakened.
The test reminded me that variety matters. It also reminded me that I am stronger than I thought, even when an activity feels new again.
Today felt like a reset. A refreshing one.
