Felisberta swimming lessons were the one non negotiable plan today, even though the morning tried very hard to fall apart. I had my own routine in my head, BodyBalance and Les Mills Core, the usual momentum, the usual “I can do everything if I move fast enough”.

Then real life happened.

It started early, like most mornings, but this one had a weird energy. Felisberta wanted to stay in my bed longer than usual, which almost never happens. Then I got a message that completely changed the plan for the day and I could feel my brain immediately going into emergency mode.

I had an online meeting, her swimming lesson in two hours, and a class I was trying to squeeze in between everything. In a few minutes, I had to decide priorities. Her routine comes first, always.

When the plan collapses in real time

I fixed what I could fix. I tried to keep the meeting. I tried to keep my training. I tried to keep the day “normal”. But timing is timing, and the gym schedule does not care if your babysitter is sick or if you are doing a mental Tetris with your calendar.

By the time the dust settled, the class was already out of reach. I was disappointed, obviously, but I also knew the day would still be a win if Felisberta had her swimming lesson. So we went.

On mornings like this, I rely on my evening prep routine so the next day starts calmer. If you want my exact checklist, here’s my evening prep routine for calm mornings.

Felisberta’s swimming lessons

And this is where the day changed.

Watching her in the water is pure joy. There is a child who genuinely loves it. She is learning the techniques, but she is also learning confidence. She plays, she tests boundaries, she pushes her teacher’s patience a little, and she looks so happy doing it.

I keep noticing small improvements. Not dramatic, not cinematic, but real. The kind of progress you only see when you show up consistently.

At home, we joke that it is “just athletes” in this family, and she is clearly the star. I looked at her and had that quiet, overwhelming thought that hits out of nowhere. This is my child. I’m so proud. ❤️

A quick dry towel makes the whole process faster, especially on busy days. This is the kind I like.

One more moment I didn’t ask for

On the way home, I witnessed a woman fall off her bicycle. It happened so fast. For a few seconds she stayed on the ground until someone helped, and thankfully it did not look serious, but it was still one more reminder that life can flip in a second.

All I wanted at that point was to get home, breathe, and reset.

What I’m taking from today

Today was messy. My training did not happen, and that is frustrating.

But Felisberta swimming lessons happened, and that matters more. Some days are about keeping the essentials steady when everything else is moving. This was one of those days.

If you are a parent and your day also turns into chaos sometimes, I see you. Tomorrow is another reset.
