My morning walk routine over 40 is one of the habits I protect the most. This morning was freezing, the kind of cold that makes you negotiate with yourself before getting out of bed. But Felisberta, my daughter, was already at the door, completely ready to go. And that energy is very hard to argue with. We bundled up and went. I am so glad we did.

What We Wore for a Cold Morning Walk in Lisbon

Before anything else, there was the getting-dressed negotiation. I kept it simple for myself: black leggings, a black long-sleeve top, and a grey coat. Comfortable, warm enough, and easy to move in.

For Felisberta I layered her up properly: light blue joggers, a dark long-sleeve top, and her pink gilet over everything. She looked cosy and completely ready for anything, and honestly, seeing her dressed and excited made it easier for me to stop stalling and just go.

Why Estádio Universitário de Lisboa Is Our Go-To Walk in Lisbon

We headed to Estádio Universitário de Lisboa, one of our regular walking spots. It is close enough to be a realistic choice on a cold morning but open and green enough to feel like you actually went somewhere. That balance matters when motivation is low and the sofa is warm.

What Happened Once We Actually Got Moving

The moment we arrived and started moving, the cold stopped mattering. That always happens, and I always forget it until I am already outside. Felisberta was animated, curious, pointing at things, asking questions, completely in her element. That energy is contagious in the best way. We walked, we moved, we laughed, and it felt simple in the best way. No agenda, no pressure, just the two of us and the morning.

What We Did After (and Why It Made the Morning Feel Complete)

After the walk, we did a few errands and went shopping before heading home. Nothing dramatic, just one of those mornings that leaves you feeling lighter. By the time we got back, we were both happy and warm again, and proud that we had not let the cold win.

Why I Always Feel Better When I End the Week With a Walk

This was the perfect way to close my training week. I ended it feeling strong and consistent, and grateful for these small routines that hold everything together.
