What My Body Balance Class with Catarina Gomes Really Felt Like
Today was another DISCOVERY TRAINING DAY! I put on my Indiana Jones hat and went on a treasure hunt!
My chosen destination: Solinca Laranjeiras. It wasn’t my first time at this gym, BUT… the moment I stepped in, I was once again amazed by its layout. That stunning pool, right in the center, letting in plenty of natural light—it’s just BEAUTIFUL!
As I approached the studio, I saw Catarina Gomes warmly welcoming students to her Body Balance class. I was beyond excited! The last time I got to enjoy one of her classes was at the BodyStep launch (alongside Rita Calaz) at Solinca Colombo, and I absolutely loved her energy and kindness.
We started with a Tai Chi warm-up, and I really enjoyed its smooth flow.
Then came the Sun Salutations: Catarina glides so effortlessly from plank to Upward Dog , while I… well, I basically drop to the floor before making my way up again
. Still lots to practice!
The Strength track was challenging, especially when we were in a side position and had to push and stretch our leg at the same time. Ouch!
Then came the Balance track: and there it was—the Tree Pose! Keeping my foot up is already a struggle, but balancing side to side with arms raised? And then, finishing with The Star Pose—wow! Catarina nailed it beautifully, all while speaking and looking at us!
Every time I practice balance, my eyes never leave the floor—I hardly look at the instructors!
The hip openers, twists, and flexibility tracks felt amazing. This week has been so blissful!
And finally, my favorite part: Relaxation/Meditation. We started with a breathing exercise, beginning at the top of our head and flowing all the way down to our toes. Catarina reminded us how essential it is to slow down and take care of ourselves, because only when we do that can we truly care for our loved ones. AMAZING!
Catarina is so kind and welcoming! She made us feel completely at ease from the start and is an excellent professional. Truly a pleasure to learn from!
I left feeling stronger, more balanced, and truly relaxed.
