This Body Balance class review is based on a day when I almost skipped the class, but ended up being reminded why this workout matters so much to me.

I had planned a stronger training day, but Body Balance became the class my body and mind clearly needed. The movements, the music, the balance work, the hip opening and the relaxation track all came together in a way that left me feeling renewed.

WHAT MY BODY BALANCE CLASS WITH ANDRÉ GODINHO REALLY FELT LIKE

Body Balance class review with André Godinho from a student’s perspective.

Today my BRUCE LEE TRAINING DAY was incomplete. I was a little naughty and skipped Combat, because I have RPM in the evening. But there was no way I was going without Body Balance. The good this class does me.

The class was with André Godinho.

We started with the warm-up, which drew us in straight away. I love these Tai Chi movements. Everything flows so beautifully!

The Sun and Moon salutations were wonderful, especially the Moon one. Whenever I film my training stories on the way to class, I wait to see if I behaved myself. Today I realised I switched the order of the lunge and the pyramid. Inside I just smile! If we never make mistakes, we never learn.

The warrior track was intense. I am still “battling” with my little shoe-height jump.

I really enjoyed the balance track. I just do not know what happened to my tree pose today. Aside from the foot that refused to stay up, everything else went well. This track is always incredible!

The hip opening and flexibility are coming along nicely, and it felt so good to twist the body. Some days we need it more than others.

And now my sweet relaxation track. Have I told you what the best expression in Body Balance is? No? I cannot believe it! Here it comes: “comfortable position.” Magic words.

We were treated to the four seasons of the year. It is important to learn to appreciate all of them, and just like the seasons, the events of our lives too, whether positive or not. Each one has its reason. André has a real gift for guided meditation. On my way home, I always find myself reflecting on his words. Today the word “renewal” stayed with me, because there are renewals in my own life that deserve more attention. I love meditations that make me reflect deeply on what is stirring in my soul.

Another WONDERFUL class from André Godinho! It is always worth showing up for him. We leave his classes feeling completely renewed.

Instructor Notes

Instructor credit: André Godinho. He is the instructor featured in this Body Balance class experience.

What stood out most in this Body Balance class was André’s ability to make the session feel calm, meaningful and deeply restorative without losing the physical challenge of the workout.

The class had strong movement moments, especially during the warrior and balance tracks, but the emotional weight of the session came through the way he guided the room into stillness. His meditation around the four seasons and the idea of renewal gave the class a reflective quality that stayed with me after I left.

From a student’s perspective, this is where Body Balance becomes more than stretching. It becomes a class that works on the body, but also gives the mind somewhere quieter to land.

How I Felt After Class

  • Right after: calm, softer in the body and genuinely glad I had not skipped Body Balance.
  • Later that day: still thinking about the word “renewal” and how much the class helped me reset.
  • Next day: aware of the hips, legs and balance work, but with that good post-Body Balance feeling of having moved without feeling drained.

Final Thoughts

This Body Balance class with André Godinho was exactly the kind of session that reminds me why I should not skip this modality.

It was not the hardest class of the day, but it gave me something I clearly needed: movement, balance, flexibility, stillness and renewal. The Tai Chi-inspired warm-up drew me in, the warrior and balance tracks challenged me, and the relaxation track brought the whole class into a calmer place.

From a student’s perspective, this was a beautiful Body Balance experience. It left me feeling more grounded, more open and completely renewed.
