What My Les Mills Core Class with Igor Angélico Really Felt Like

Les Mills Core class review with Igor Angélico

And just like that, back from the holidays, I was back in Core class with Igor Angélico and his wonderful energy! Oh… and a FULL room!

I walked in, grabbed my equipment and waited for the warm-up. At the end of it, Igor looks at the class and asks: “Already?” Yes, people had already felt the power of what was coming.

On to track 2: the plank track! Today I genuinely enjoyed it. A LOT! Did I just write “a lot”? I must be losing my mind! But yes, I did enjoy it. First because I managed to do it well (about 90%), and second because it was so varied! We even used weight plates. At the end of the track, the instructor told me I had done well, so… NICE!

Track 3 gave us wood chops. During this one I was reminded that Igor always brings exercises that challenge your coordination. You need serious concentration to control the resistance band at the right pace and in the right direction, while adding the leg movements. Really good!

My favourite: track 4! Resistance bands, lunges, kickbacks, a little dancing, a little walking around… in short, pure fun! I LOVE this track!

Track 5, the obliques one, was interesting. Knee work, a bit of cardio and cross crunches (is that what they are called?).

We finished with track 6, the wonderful combination of resistance bands and weight plates to work the back.

It was so good to confirm that I could keep up with the class after the break, and I had truly missed that magnificent atmosphere. I also realised I enjoy Les Mills Core far more than I had imagined.

Igor was impeccable, in the best of moods, which was absolutely essential in making sure I got through every exercise with a smile on my face.

Instructor Notes

What stood out most in this class was Igor’s energy and attention to the room. This was my first Core class back after the holidays, and that kind of instructor presence made a real difference.

Les Mills Core requires concentration. It is not only about doing abdominal work. You have to control the resistance band, coordinate the legs, stay with the rhythm, and keep proper focus through each track. Igor’s coaching helped make that challenge feel possible, even when the class became demanding.

From a student’s perspective, this was a strong return to class. The energy was high, the room was full, and the instructor helped turn a challenging workout into something I genuinely enjoyed.

How I Felt After Class

Right after: surprised by how much I had enjoyed the class, especially the plank track and the resistance band work.

Later that day: happy to know I could keep up after the holidays and glad to be back in the atmosphere of group fitness.

Next day: aware that Core had worked more than I expected, especially through the planks, obliques, resistance band work, and back track.

Final Thoughts

This Les Mills Core class with Igor Angélico was a strong reminder that Core is much more than a short abdominal workout. It challenges strength, coordination, control, stability, and focus.

From a student’s perspective, this class felt varied, demanding, and surprisingly enjoyable. The plank track was better than expected, the resistance band work required proper concentration, and Igor’s energy helped carry the whole experience.

This was a very good return after the holidays, and it made me realise that Les Mills Core deserves more space in my training routine.
